Extra,extra large denim jacket, one of the few stuff I got during the holidays.

Finally got to tick it off from my 'to get list' ..and this particular time that we took these pictures, it was rain phenomena back home - this boring spell of rain and more rain which probably resulted in that moody pucker of the lips expression above. Which then resulted in this sort of apathy towards 'clothes' and 'getting dressed' and 'fashion' in general.

Note: All characteristic of bad weather syndrome I suppose. Not like you're in a fashion rut, but a rut which eventually affects the whole order.

These pictures were taken at home. Wearing your average jeans, super classic fit though which I love and paired em' with this mini kimono style top that looks as though it came out from an 11 year old girl's wardrobe. Plausible right? That thing on my head is my mum's really old sun cap visor she wears when she's gardening or talking to her plants with tiny floral prints on them, I've always wanted to wear it on the blog I guess, sort of breaking up my otherwise plain palette outfit - WHICH I love but y'know, I could never pass up an add-on. Like extra pepperoni on my pizza.

i-D the dreams and aspirations issue.

i-D has always been a favorite, a magazine that not only prioritizes fashion but youth and cultural issues and politicizing these different aspects together into creating something that can inspire and reform. I remember my sister getting her first copy when we were in school and she was elated about it cause her sort of hero Agyness Deyn was on the cover because she has an affinity for androgyny and dr martens boots and such.. but the price for the magazine we have to shell out is more than stifling, or it could contribute to the fact that we even treasure it all the more because of that. This issue is so beautiful. The dreams and aspirations issue. Hence evident of why I would use 'beautiful' as an adjective to describe it. Featuring new bands that I love like CULTS, to be able to finally have an evidence of their existence on print and not wait for them to go mainstream because all the rihannas are clogging up too many pages. And 90s band SUEDE's Brett Anderson's interview was sort of nostalgia inducing again. Growing up, my older cousins would listen to them a lot, Pulp, Blur - that school of popular Britpop music at the time and I'm having these fuzzy flashbacks of when we were kids, running around the rooms and their songs literally reverberating throughout the house, especially the youtube video I've attached under the page picture I've taken of Brett's interview. Still one of my favourite songs.
Referring to the first image up above is the article by Susan Corrigan with references to the recent English Riots, among other things, of a reconstitution in society with regard to our dreams and aspirations as members of a collective society was so endearing and thought-provoking and central to what i-D stands for as a magazine. AND onto something else unrelated though definitely does tally on the lines of nostalgia is the picture below, I was scrolling through old pictures so just popping this in..

I've been slipping on this slip with an array of tees, another one of em ' what-I've-been-wearing-a lot-as-of-late ' and despite the fact that I've sort of an aversion to sequins and such, I recently got these shoes and you can see it there all shimmery, which is actually not so bad. It's just a small dose right? Wouldn't hurt yeah? My cousin's yet to give em' a name which she's been doing a lot lately to every shoe I purchase. Now I'm off to reading a mountain of essays about culture and society for my presentation and an abstract paper to work on and exams in a month. VIBE-KILL.

Best Coast. That is all about pretty awesome American indie bands.
And YAY.. Drew Barrymore directed the first video and you haul in Kick-Ass fame Chloe Moretz and Alia Shawkat of Whip It fame and what do you get? Even more sheer awesomeness. I made some pointers
about the video for Our Deal.
1. Watching the video was like getting reminders from classics like The Outsiders.
2. Gangs, not to make typical brush offs like 'gangs are cool' or something but from its cinematographic aspect. So, take your pick kids, are you gonna go for NIGHT CREEPERS or DAY TROTTERS??
3. The modern day Romeo and Juliet subtext. I mean, you might as well haul in the Capulets and the Montagues.
4. COIFFED HAIR. They're apparently A-BOOMING.

SURELY you know what I mean. I've been trying to make copies on my hair.

We've got the whole gang-esque look here in tow.

I even sort of got weak in the knees when Romeo here died and Chloe saw the latter half of what he had sprayed onto the wall. Drew's talented direction skills were pretty evident and awesome-err on finding out Alia Shawkat was in the video too, after seeing her and Ms Barrymore working together on Whip It, one of my favorite 09' movies with Ellen Page. ROLLER DERBY. JULIETTE LEWIS. And you see, the lads below have been sporting the present 'THERE ARE FLECKS OF RAINBOW ON YOUR HAIR' rage.

Been wearing this outfit a whole lot, mostly to school.

So this post would trickle down to the umm what I wear to school tag, complete with heavy backpack and all and sometimes heavy would owe to my water bottle and not really my books. Plus this has been one major outfit repeat this past month. And will proceed with layers when we get around to November I presume.

Some of my favorite things at the moment. I almost missed out on this book, I was about to give up my search when fate intervened I suppose? Muehehe. We've all had our divine feminist awakenings, mine in full throttle during college plus most of the texts we studied had to do a whole lot with women's issues and such. It was a good pounding, all of it. Girls go get your copy. AND this pencil's always on the go when I'm propped up with a book in my hand. Favorite M.A.C lippy-ty-stick at the moment, I get Megamind-happy when I wear this. And surprisingly my mum's as well as almost everyone's hygienic habit of carrying your average wet wipes has caught up with me though these are for ga-ga-gooey babies but aren't they all the same?

And since I was blabbering away about Murakami's books in the last post, these are most of the lot that i spent doodling and mooching around on recently.

The illustrations on this recent publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland are pretty wicked, by Camille Rose Garcia and I did creepily stroke the jacket when I got it. And well, I guess you guys are all aware of my penchant for zombies. It has this battery powered sound module with ten different phrases and a huge 'B' that lets out the BRRAAIINS growl when you press it, a Zombarista where you order lattes .. I mean, SHIT! Right?? Scared my sister the other day when she was sleeping.

Its no small feat pretending to walk on the balcony..yeah?

And the wind's throwing your dry tresses around and you're inclined to make a face.. refer to second image and for once I felt like I achieved a somewhat normal face stance in the last image.

This Led Zeppelin tee is really old, shuttles back and forth between me and my cousin who loves it as much as I do. And the other day I had soaked it with one of my bed sheets and now there are like faint peachy patches on it which is completely okay, I'll probably sport em till they have huge ass holes in em' .. Aaand we were laughing about how chubby my legs got..errm stumps would be appropriate. BTW, was downloading the movie, Norwegian Wood and IT IS DONE.

One of the highlights of my summer holidays was reading Murakami's book ..of the same name, endless gushings of how epic and eerie and beautiful the book was and wanting to have Midori's name. I literally slept with the book for days after finishing and carrying it around in my backpack when venturing out. I read three more of his books after that and boy was Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World awesome. The whole Semiotecs and Calcutecs and INKlings and UNICORNS! And the chubby secretary in pink with the bulbous ass. You guys probably have no idea what I'm rambling about if you haven't read his books but please go do :)

I got an email that they would open shop soon in these parts and eventually forgot about that but oh boy I was not prepared for when I actually saw the actual Steve Madden store the other day, was the last thing in my head then BAM! My first ever Steve Madden shoes.. BooYAH. And so CHUNKY. Oooooooo.. I'm doing that with a total goofy, moron expression, like I'm Megamind or summin' and I adore Megamind, that blue-y klutz. I digress, and YES where were we.. I was cooking last night wearing em'..clunking about in the kitchen and thats..well.. all about shoe porn yeah? I just omitted some of the pictures that I had intended on posting, they were all cluttered together just didn't seem right.

5. This is Nigel. My sister's estranged ex-boyfriend.. not to take estranged literally though, just for sport people . And one of my best friends who tells me to pray to Superman.

6. I lost these shoes at one of the resorts. I miss them.

7. I took this last picture with the Canon 5D which certainly enhanced the color of my skirt to this rich red...though its actually a dull maroon-y color.

Sneaking up on just the upper half of my new dress. Cannot wait to get in them though I have to admit with all the pigging its more than unflattering around the umm.. lower abdomen/tush area. GET TO THE RUNNER YOU! If you get my point yeah? And that is my sister, Daisy, like the flower. Woopsiedaisies, YES. In all her false lash-y glory which I probably wouldn't have the patience for myself, getting icky with all that adhesive you have to dab on. Tried em' once though, got as far as only my left eye, with her oh-so serious face an inch away from mine, peering and working her hands with the falsies on my lids was more than enough for me to let out a cackle and a guffaw... We just gave up.

The usual head down pose, a repeat from one of my earlier outfit posts. Thought I'd do a rerun since I hadn't put this up at the time. Like do a go-back and put up certain pictures that got omitted in the first place, other than for reference. AND OH because I've developed this mediocre habit of re-snapping pictures that I've taken as well as taking to playing ANGRY BIRDS when I'm real angry and stretching that slingshot as far as it'll go AND BAM! She SCORES. Taking over The Sims and Plants VS Zombies for awhile now, which are the only games I'm mildly adept at. Not really going to address the pictures except in terms of their 'pretty evident' ability to inspire, like when Lindsay was young and wearing flatforms and not the Lindsay NOW. BUT addressing the fact that THE second image is my fave' pichurrr of Ms Coppola. I watched Twelve and felt the same sense of eerie doom when I watched Remember Me. And seems I'm getting to a point where quotes will define my life. Not really, as stoic and far-fetched as this one is. Just my usual digression, dilly-dallying and fusing fashion inspirations with respected dead authors and their books that have become a part of my consciousness. I remember copying this quote down some years back when I was studying, it was intended for the foreword section for one of his novels but later omitted which he afterwards remarked that he would die of shame if ever really written. BUT Mr Lawrence, I think it encourages introspection, more so for the generation you've left behind..at times when maybe you feel rather stoic and adamant about certain things, and you want to put out something in the open - like you can't stand GLEE and you want to.. generate blog posts like this.

Apparently I got a bit too excited with my kid sister's denim jacket, strewn with patches all over and inducing a somewhat teen nostalgia and my mother's collection of similar patches in all shapes and designs if a need would arise to patch certain parts of our garments when we were kids... and my sleeping brother caught unaware and unknowingly included as a result of my traipsing about before hitting the snooze button. Seemed a little bizarre to pair it with my shorts, a crazy swirl of florals but decided that the two would bond in their mismatched union. Then a less casual pair up with the black fitted skirt and an even more fitted mini coat under the jacket and stressing on fitted is a result that I have been pigging on food..glorious food. AND TEEN VOGUE, another nostalgic reminder of school or what the Olsen twins were before The Row happened. I've been forever planning to do a post about it but met with delays because I have to shuttle between where I am right now and where I study which means your possessions shuttle about too back and forth and that all 'THE' possessions are not stacked in one place like your head is at a certain time. Okay. They're precious like Smeagol going 'my precious' not in terms of being materialistic but I grew up with these, gave me a sufficient dose of Marc Jacobs and led me to Arcade Fire when they started out. And any ardent fan of the band would have to admit how cool their contributors are - not just fashion wise, and the above is one of my favourite editions, Natalie Portman before Black Swan.

Who'd think that I'd ever put these on? Them cat-eyed blinders.
In the life of little old me, blinders/sunglasses/shades are procured on a whim and forgotten about in a week or 2 weeks at the most. I just gave away my John Lennon-ish ones to my friend. THOUGH I would really like to own Ray Ban's Clubmasters, which would definitely not end up as a giveaway. So I got these on another fleeting whim since they looked a bit wacky and redeem myself as the new alien wacko cat. MRAOW. Plus it'd come in handy for props like when you wanna take pictures that border on narcissism or because you're just bored.

And this would be the scared alien wacko cat. MIAUU.
1. I did not know I was capable of making a face like that. SCARED might not probably be the right description. My eyes fail me and that looks like a nose job.

And psychedelic with all that reference to grayish body suddenly becoming striped and ooo..ooo SEVEN arms. No wonder I did a caps lock on that what with having only two arms to boast of for the average human. And I had weird projections of octopuses floating in my head all day, forget about the dating and mating which is just creepy. And getting tummy jiggles reading out sentences like " I scream. This feels a bit subdued compared to the last two posts which were otherwise intense.. INTENSE in mammoth proportions OH YEAH. All that print and color and what Lesly thought was a cosco ball. Haha. Yeah. That had to come eventually. And getting comments like 'oh blimey!you look like a girl from a painting!' no doubt one of the spontaneous reactions generated by that floral mayhem of a dress I called a visual treat.

Still a visual treat yeah? So coming back to this current post, yesterday had a lot to do with running around with one of my best friends who's in town. AND BOY DID WE RUN AROUND. Grabbing whatever time we had in between to take these shots and complaining incessantly about how the lighting sucked, which pretty much exposes our poor skills when you have daylight in full bloom seeping through your skin. More complaints about how our old college had renovated their grounds because what we knew and saw before was altered, in a way that failed to include us. Or so we thought.

Our only solace would have been the pale apple green door I'm standing in front of.

We adored it. We'd open it and maybe have our own Alice-down-the-rabbit-hole moment.

Wearing a onesie swimsuit as a top, they go perfectly when you're wearing a skirt with that much volume and length. My friend up above there is all summer bound with an easy breezy top and classic denim shorts. Her Keds and my boots sure did get us rolling through the day.

Other than 'lahlah' being my nickname, I have another nickname.
It's a bit obscure. I'm not even 25 yet. Heck, that still doesn't count.
Before the term 'Grandma chic' had been re-instated as, well.. chic, I've always been more inclined towards that sort of chic-ness. The reason for which is 'Grandma' clothes or the whole look for me is clothing that translates ease, comfort. Nothing constricting, age appropriate for those frail nerves. And because I'm La-to-the-zy. There was something eerily assuring about that plain, old-y mold-y look. One could not possible fathom the tummy jiggling euphoria that passed over me when this reinstatement took place - that of grannychic. And if you'll let me digress a bit here, that is why I love fashion - it's such a beautiful evolution. I just sounded corny. Daaa

And coming back to subject, the other nickname is well, G-R-A-N-D-M-A. Or A-P-I in my lingo. Though it's not really because of the way I tend to dress when I get on my G-Ma funk. Over the years of assessing and re-assessing why so many of my relatives and friends call me that, I still haven't figured this one. And upon interrogation, and I promise I did not point a gun to their face, they tell me it has to do with the way I move around or do certain things..or pick-up another bunch of certain things. Or a more forward reply - "You act old. " So two years back, one of my friends and the friend does call me by that same nickname suggested this blog of errm.. old ladies, a thousand other Grandmas doing their thang called advancedstyle.blogspot.com created by Ari Seth Cohen. She thought it was on par with my almost infamous nickname that Iv'e lugged around with me for years now and is one of my favourite blogs up to date. Old-y mold-y is definitely not their cuppa' tea for them ladies that led me to re-assessing the whole term 'grannychic' that has garnered almost cult status among us fashion warlords. Then with my grand oratory skills (felt like I was giving a speech to prove my point - of why granny or grannychic runs a bit deeper at lahlahishere) on the subject given, henceforth we shall move on to this awesome fo' shizz epic short film that led me here when I was in the midst of doing my term paper, bloglovin'-in, shooting the shit with my sister's estranged boyfriend, gorging on my favourite sticky rice and now bugging out of my op.

This could be my favourite shirt yet. I got it just yesterday.
Made quite a dash to see what I can churn out of it pronto.
I improvised a bit by coiling one of my belts round and round my wrist as it were a snake.
Then got into character.. Head bowed down. The usual.

Then like a frickin' bolt out of the blue I realized this supposed churning had to eventually take place. You'd think it was something premeditated. I was just about to publish this but then went off veering around recent inspiration pictures from the bulk of my files and then BAM! I saw something all too familiar. Apparently this image had been lodged somewhere deep in the crevasses of my brain and all it required was for me to purchase a similar sheer shirt?? That is some eerie, trippy telepathy. I still don't buy that but what the heck. I probably should have edited the picture the other way round.

Bored to the extent that you think you're an 'artist' and that you can create something 'artistic' out of your regular boxy Neutrogena packaging. That is one of the irks about our generation. We throw the word 'artist' around. Like you've had one too many Kfc burgers and you're tired of processed food and you let out a groan.

IT is wearing my Mac lipstick. And currently reading the book they're standing on.

Hey-low. Have you guys watched the movie Ramona?
I did and I came up with this conclusion after watching the movie.
Oh. Even while watching the movie. Just to be precise.
Ramona + Tavi Gevison = Tavi/Ramona?? ..that did not make sense but throughout the whole movie I was zigzagging from Tavi, then Ramona and Tavi again. When Ramona would talk or play out her part, it even felt like Tavi was mouthing out the words but it was actually Ramona of course. TRIPPY.
And it would be real cool if Tavi could take on Ramona's character and do a blog post someday.
Or better, If only I could put the two of em' together and peer at the similarities with a huge ass magnifying glass if the similarities turn out to be microscopic. Somehow, I can imagine the three of us letting out a squeal in a great, big chorus. Anyhoo, I actually went to the extent of making a collage of the two kids.

Next up, I have Taylor Tomasi Hill. And this recent outfit picture of her is a further confirmation as to why I love her style. Mixing awesome Kicks and even awesome-err gray attire like that is well, cool in my book however cliche that sounds. Its always such a beautiful mix with all the right components and a little bit of a surprise here and there. She's my favourite storm trooper at the moment and well, because I always feel like one when I go out in whatever I wear. Connie said that once, who is one of my favourite blabbers?? in the fashion world, couldn't agree more. Because either one or more of the stuff that I put on is a wee bit big, like something is trailing behind you, and in my case, something HAS GOT TO leave a trail, most times. Even if it is just my backpack. Camouflage-ic reasons mostly and that implies knowing what kind of body you have.

I like anything thats STACKED.

A stack of books. A stack of clothes?? Haha

A stack of watches, boxes, music cds, vinyl records, trunks, paper.

I've obviously made my point.

And if I was a 5'9-err, I would probably be stacked with a ton of coats during winter which I can't, owing to my present height which would leave me looking like a ridiculous barrel.

OH, I love stacking my belts together and here's a pretty neat stacked inspiration...of BELTS!

And little old me that I decided to include at the last minute. Was on my way to Connaught Place for a treat that we literally begged. Aaaand it just hit me that this was the first outfit I wore on this blog! Did alotta storm-trooping that day.

Went to school today to check out my dates and this is my no fuss campus attire? Haha.

Wearing grey Gap V-neck sweater. I'm pretty paranoid about finding the right grey sweater and this was one lucky haul. Threw on my Old Navy shirt and the boots are awesome for trolling around town, dressing up or down and I've been wearing them everywhere. They are the shizz! And just for the record, I'm gonna go now and rave about the Proenza Schouler PS11 bag and watch Alien Ant Farm's videos on the tube.

A little retouch. I completely forgot about the visuals, the latter end of what I was talking about. This is one of my favourite songs off'a the band and Dryden Mitchell is a bad ass. I love how they incorporated the whole Edward Scissorhands cult fame in the video, everyone would be making a beeline for a haircut from the prodigy himself eh? And Alice ( In Wonderland) would play chaperone and assist the prodigy while Uncle Tim looks on, makes sure everyone pay their dues, a tommy gun in hand. Sweet. Uh, okay, I'm done here.

Huppy New Year.

How late am I? A few glitches with my internet connection so...

Wearing a cardigan that.. Ahem.. Shrank but I'm real tiny so I got to keep it still.

And super long mustard skirt. Lately I've been wanting everything mustard color wise.

Erm.. I look really feminine here..hair a-flowing, skirt a-flowing too, minus the bun and all and this new orange plastic belt that I got goes with everything. I was so excited when I bought it, it was like purchasing a bright, fun toy. This was shot some time around mid-December when it wasn't bleeding cold so but now its just bulk on top of bulk, a lot of black like I'm in mourning, lets hope February will give us a little reprieve from all that.

Merry Christmas everyone. I could've gotten blown away with this olive sheet thing I'm wearing. Pretty windy. One of my friends dubbed it 'the raincoat' because of its airy-ness, breezy fabric and shizz. I love it against my new coral shrimp colored tights. Also wearing favorite sock of the moment and my sister's sky high shoes from Forever21. I'm afraid I haven't got much Christmas-y pictures to present though I had planned on it, haven't even taken a picture with the good ol' tree though thats what I did the whole day on Christmas, taking pictures for everyone cept' me. BUT I've been incubating at home, or either running over to my cousins's...getting drunk on my favorite Chicken Biryani, frozen and flown from Calcutta..the old city I called home for more than 6 years. I miss the place. And there it is.. I fantasize and dream about eating it sometimes, when I'm in Delhi or here at home and I can't have it on my plate. And yeah..thats what I said, I love it so much we get it flown.

"Serizawa! Chicken!" Well..thats me mouthing off one of the lines from Crows Zero. The bad ass guys above. And Polyvore came in handy so I made a collage. I got a bit confused - Tote or Satchel? Wouldn't mind lunging both. I just about died for the Double Peak Lapel Coat. Proenza Schouler. I could take a pass at the dress though and just wear the coat and get into character for my Crows Zero stint with crazy hair. Bad joke. I could get sued for even mentioning that.

Just smuggled bits..no.. HUGE CHUNKS of Dad's roasted pork from the kitchen. Washed it down with coke and cheese. I'm having a bit of a ball here at home. So this outfit is basically about what you can do with your regular, over sized cardie.
Wore my sheer nude-y top over it and pretty much transforms into something else, which is what sort of gets me going about clothes. Toss it like salad and you've got a new dressing everyday no? A bit too formal with 'the only pair of boots I own' but it was another whip up for a zine titled Holiday Look so.. I like that it gives off a sturdy effect though! And Dalki intervened, injected a little color because maybe I found it a bit too dull. Its funny to think but I can picture myself kicking ass on the streets IF, suppose I had an attacker and I would beat the crap outta 'the attacker' with my boxy bag of course AND the boots! Just saying. Its also funny how your imagination takes flight when you bring in words like 'boots' and 'sturdy' and I'm conjuring images in my head of the scene already. Full outfit below.

So this is what I've whipped up for a feature on a certain zine, more on that later.
I tried to incorporate everything that I love - nude tones, slouchy but giving the look structure with the belt, sheer on toppa' sheer, fluffy cozy knits.
Am I excited with the outcome? Heck yeah.
And with the title there, was listening to Coldplay's Lovers in Japan after a long time and I was going for something I could lounge around in - lazy and warm and I guess all that culminated into this.

Winter has set in and I'm on a hunt for a pair of engine red socks.
I've finally compiled the mix tape for you guys.
I had to stop myself in adding a ton more!
These are on my current playlist.
Growing up in the late 90s, my top five would have to include bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Suede, Third Eye Blind, New Radicals, Blur, Placebo and I love Fleetwood Mac.. Stevie Nicks and if you listen to the first track, their singer reminds me of a young Stevie. Then the gradual transition to bands like Rilo Kiley, Stellastarr, The Kills, The Raveonettes, Arcade Fire, Spoon, The Cribs. Listening to obscure bands on the net is what I do best, I can never figure out the lyrics for some, especially for the 9th track here, this is how I usually sing along." Eh, oh.. Eh our lights are go, don't wanna let go until we say so. " Bobbing my head to the beat, obviously not making any sense.

Sssup boys and girls.
Took a sick leave and I'm back, still coughing my lungs out though.
A-khhhhh! A-khuhhh.. *wheeze*.. *wheeze*..and still wheezing.
For today's post I wanted to bring back this old beautiful, vintage dress of mine and do two different takes on it. Wearing the same cardigan. 1 2 = do a knot. 3 4 = wear 3 belts over it. Or 5, or even 6. And for the third belt, I've used the one that came along with the dress, the hook fell out due to my sister's clumsy hands so had to do a knot with that too. The whole look reminds me of a kimono now no?

So my choice is to do something hard and boring, or to marry my... Jew, and go to Paris and Rome and listen to jazz, and read, and eat good food in nice restaurants, and have fun! It's not enough to educate us anymore Ms. Walters. You've got to tell us why we're doing it.

AN EDUCATION.
As much as I want to gush about this movie, I will not.
I've done it too many times and it gets rather tedious.
And it has been several months since I've seen it hence the tedious gushing.

Bellow is all that I'm going to eat tonight.
When you're a student, away from home, cooking a proper meal is the least of your worries.
Thai chicken rice porridge, add to that some local made beef pickle, cream cheese crackers and you're good.

What would have been the key component that literally propelled SHOE-DOM?
A baffling thought, that.
And if I ever get a chance to don the shoes from Balenciaga Fall 2010,
I would glare at my shoes shouting..
" Balenciaga Autobot! Tranform and roll out! " Click. Clank. Clunk.
And BOOM out rolls Optimus Prime. Trippy eh?
Is that possible? Its probable, owing to catastrophic lengths that innovation has led to.
Oh wait, since Optimus is all short and tiny here than his Balenciaga counterpart, the other scenario could be that Balenciaga Autobot is a Decepticon *ooooh* and is about to be blown to smithereens if you noticed the weapon aimed at that direction.
Conclusion: Balenciaga + Decepticon = Wicked.
This is the kind of narrative that SHOE DOM has led to, which is exactly what I'm talking about.

Went from one library to the other today.
Pretty much spent the whole day in T-H-E library. Reading. Writing. Noting.
Schoolwork. I even dressed the part no? If you look at me up there. Kicking the dirt pose. The Dalki bag. Then the mention of academia. And thats where the ugly starts on Monday.
On the clothes front, still quite warm but the layers have started. Bit by bit.

It was brown everywhere that the entire collection felt austerely brown.

So I got hoodwinked by my least favourite color ... BUT I wasn't prepared for this though.

Hello.
Below is the skirt I have been living in for the last three months or so.
Dubbed thee my 'lazy skirt' .. I could sleep in them. Thats a bad habit but I do.
Its more of an indulgence for me.

So does it give off the effect that I'm hanging upside down? Heh. I look a bit retarded no?
Nevertheless. Tired of the monotony I guess.
And look what I bought! I want to be cocooned in this forever.

What I shot.

And I sort of just stared at it for what seemed like forever. Maybe its the color scheme. Hmmmm. Or the fact that what has been lying there sort of transformed into something else when you capture it on film. The many conclusions you come to when camping around with your cam no?
And these..

They're like pupa! So if they were pupa, after the final metamorphosis, they will take flight suppose they're butterflies. I wasn't thinking moth. Nope. Aaaand I thought of all that after I shot these. I went as far as picturing them whizzing away. People do that right?

And here I digress in all my masked glory. This was me today. If you guys were aware of Vogue's 90th anniversary and the huge masked ball event which was nothing short of the real deal... then you'll know where I was going with this because I happen to have a bag full of masks at the moment, safe-keeping it for a boy I adore who's planning to throw the same. I might be the one taking flight with all them feathers now. Perfect props now eh?

And so I was talking about PRECISION in my last post.
This next post would be a relevant follow up to that.

Got these in the mail from Dad.

Pencil Sculpture by Dalton Ghetti.

First up, I thought they were cartoons. And then after reading the whole mail, I went ballistic and stared at them for almost an hour. You'll probbly be doing the same. The artist works with a razor blade, a sewing needle and a sculpting knife to carve out these miniature masterpieces on actual graphite ON ACTUAL PENCILS.. some of which took him years to complete. Some Artsy Shiz eh?

Another quote from a presentation I'm working on in school that I'd like to share, which kept me from attending the Forever21 launch here today. Yes after Zara, its Forever21 :)

Heleeeuhh.
Lets go back to Proenza Schouler's Spring 2008 RTW.
Something about Lazaro's name would stay. I knew.
The collection was splashed all over Teen Vogue when I bought the issue around the same time the collection debuted. Then BAM! STRUCTURE. Its Jack and Lazaro who taught the little girl in me about structure in clothing.
And Vogue hit India..and India was talking about structure and I went TIIIING! I did. There was something transcendental about that moment. It definitely was a moment for me because Post-Proenza Schouler, I went structure crazy... Balenciaga then happened so it was only inevitable that Balmain would drop the bomb on them shoulders.. Hmmm. Thats bamboozling I tell ya. And after being bombarded with Balmain-esque shoulders season after season, on Gaga and the masses..that was a good thing and BAM! Pheobe Philo gave me..gave us all the respite we needed. Another whole new meaning to PRECISION. Precision that bloody precise it does not get precise-errr than that. Did I just say that? Oh well..there's always a play up with words here. I'm digressing to a point where I seem to be canonizing fashion history.

And so lets come back to Jack and Lazaro. 123456789+ posts back, I had this wool-y gray waistcoat on with a mustard colored dress that reminded me of PS Spring 08' and with fashion warlords embarking on fall's first wispy trails..thought I'd join in early this side of the world. Trolled around a bit with colors and forked these out for starters and after the final assemblage, it was Proenza all over again. Its the damned waistcoat I know. Below are images from the show thats gotten me talking all Proenz-y at the moment. AND I'm gonna say AMOEBA any moment now.

So see what I meant with the waistcoat???? Epic proportions structured around cinching that tiny belt and you're done for a little flare. A little gimmick for a night out or your trip to the drugstore which will only take you down a flight of stairs but a gimmick is a gimmick right? And that would be me taking the stairs IF I had to go to the drugstore. And my little gimmick for that?? I put on my Crocs. YES I wear my ugly-cute white Crocs. After ridiculing them..more like wondering what they were, I've reluctantly made acquaintances for more than a month now and its great for shuffling between North to South campus here. They get me to class. And I adore the contrast they give to the clothes I wear. All my blaspheming earlier and the present situation now which is I'm already thinking of getting another pair?? HAHA. I feel evil...*chuckle chuckle*

I seem to be on a talking spree about The Crocs.
And I was on a class spree today..armed in.. well... The Crocs. My trusty black Arizona emblazoned cap. Another trusty ol' black duffel bag. Ripped jeans..not screaming 80s though. And a very long tee. I had no time to take a picture so just imagine me in all that when you look at the pictures below. Its a definite contrast. Caps. Basics. Just saying.

Great excuse to blog.
Because I actually went out last night.
And because I wore ' THE ' red dress.
The only red dress I own in fact.
Oh and I remember talking about it once here.
That I would love to prance around in it when I got the chance.
Got the chance and I'm getting right down to it.
Lo! And Behold ..made more intoxicatingly red-err because the pictures were all taken at sundown.
And NO.. I didnt get inked.

What I adore about this dress are the details you have around the collar area and at the bottom of the sleeves.
Gold colored threads sewn in.
A bit poofy at the shoulders.
You got to have the poof.
Can you see the buttons?
Tiny poppy red. Like pea pods waiting to pop out any minute.

I think we did good on our first night out eh?

Blogging has been slow. I don't know why I need to reiterate that every time I log in and start a new post.Its become a habit, a way of excusing myself for the increasingly long gaps between posts.

The blob on top of me head? A fellow fashion enthusiast? Is that the right label..well, lets not label people. Anyhoo, the fellow-err spotted me today for the first time while I was out for a movie with friends, and later told me online that I had a headlight on me head :DD ..that was definitely a first and surprisingly welcome. I never thought of the bun as a 'headlight' which after mentioned is mighty appropriate. So yeah..HEADLIGHTS, no, thats one HEADLIGHT. Check.. lets perk em' up on high yeah?
If I could write down a chronology of the past 2 months, it would be sort of like a snake slithering on slow mo and then ZAP.. going for the kill. Then slow mo and vice versa.
Can I quit my Masters and open a bistro? Or maybe a capsule collection?
Thinking.. Yes. Still thinking of getting a crew-cut. Maybe next year. Prior to that was going hairless, no not like I'm taking a sabbatical. Yeah tell me you know what I mean. Just hairless. I'm striking that out now because my hair has been literally falling.

And where did the rain go? This line just came out of nowhere like a buzzer.

One of my professors walked in class with a navy tee, khaki shorts and a backpack. He has a smirk on his face and he waves his hands about in a flail-ly, erratic sort of way. You know he's not an old bore. An old Mac Daddy?Hmmm.. And that, sometimes at the end of the day makes me want to come back to class. You can tell how deep I am in the trenches..scholarly pursuit?? Pffft.
Psssstttt.. I am whining. Get back to subject.
I need a moodboard to cram in all I've just said.

Get out of this spell and yes tiny old me did acquire a few goodies recently and they are on hold till the spunk is back. Believe you me, the spunk will be back.

Long absence. And I'm back here looking like candy floss because of the mesh thats my skirt and pastel shades thats staring right back at you.

And look what I did to my romper. Shhhhhhh.

CROP TOP WONDER is the appropriate line after the romper is severed right at the ribs. Caps lock on for those three words so yeah.. tummy jiggle everywhere. Best thing about them? Proportion.. and not just proportion but interesting proportions. Big difference there.

Not your average, proper DIY so I wouldn't recommend it. All I did was make a huge gash straight through without no real remorse for disembodying my romper. You see the normal crop tops around but this one's genius because its like a bustier though it actually is not.

Anyhoo, just got back from class and I am tired. I thought of writing down a ton of things but sleep's calling me so its zzz..zzzz. OH.. Waiting for Fall so I can pile it up. Who's with me? :)

Inspiration

SO I have been fairly busy running errands which seem to take forever. Mostly to do with University Exams and school..chaperoning little ones hither and thither. Myself included. That would explain the blog flow that is currently on a lapse and moving and hauling suitcases about is another inconvenience to blogging.

That said.. Outfit posts are the last thing on my mind right now though there's this fiery red dress Ive been wanting to prance around in while the cam goes click,click,click. I will get to that soon before my classes weigh me down. Ive noticed how the parka has taken center stage so now I need me a parka.. over sized will work best for this tiny frame, for that breezy leverage. Preferably gray or black. Well... Fall season? You're gonna have to step it up and get here soon.

Here are pictures that have been a source of inspiration for FOREVER.. they're usually rotated about for my desktop background. So yeah still cant stand the idea of a bare post with no visual eye candy. And BTW Ive teamed up with fellow blogger Audrey of befrassy.com..note the banner on the right side o' my blog, who's got an amazing knack for mixing separates. So go have a looksey .. you're sure to find great pieces there.

The first two pictures from stockholmstreetstyle have stayed with me for a long time now.
You look at the outfit or the separate pieces that make the outfit...and you cant fail but to notice at the intelligent and cohesive blending. You catch details and go 'oh' and 'hmmm' and sort of delve into how people portray their individual take on a slouchy furry coat..or a nerd glass but that lady up there is probbly wearing prescriptions. I look at it and I feel like patrolling the streets wearing something that would drag along with me like the above.. Maybe the parka would cater to just that. The second image no doubt propelled this ongoing inclination to buying items that are nudey.. tangy nudey..pink nudey..gray nudey. Then color wise.. I went all peachy.. coral shrimp. Enough with color naming now.

The last image is, one of many favourites by Tommy over at jakandjil. Danielle Steel and daughter Vanessa Traina... The power shoulders had caught on.. blazing head on actually. The first thing that caught my eye about this picture was the floral dress and the frenzy of activity that is captured, like a race against time. The shot is perfection for me. So anyhooo.. will try and get going with more posts soon. Buhbye.

Dalki and I are gonna take on the world

My preoccupation with all things cute and animated will never cease.

And with that said, HERE is my Dalki bag!
Dalki means 'strawberry' in Korean, yes, a cartoon character.
She is described as " especially interested in unique fashion style. She sometimes creates accidents and troubles, however she also troubleshoots troubles of others. She likes boy friend, Water Melon, however she also ignores him and is very capricious. " SO thats who DALKI is, if you were wondering. OH she believes she has telepathy. Geeeeee. I sense an uncanny resemblance.

Oh well. There's me getting snapped about in the neighbourhood. Dalki and me running the day's errands. Slightly uncomfortable though. There was this man sitting nearby who seemed completely baffled at the sight. Anyhoo dressing up is so much fun when you have this sort of whimsical add on.

And here you have ze meshy skirt. I am irrevocably in love with it. I got it just before I left home..along with my Dalki bag. A definite score and I can't recall whether I did a jiggle at the thrift store when i got my hands on these.. which I deem would be appropriate when you support the saying that fashion should be whimsical and fun. Thats Marc Jacobs for you. Hmmmm.. OK coming back to the skirt, feels like you're wearing a tutu..so call it my gramma tutu skirt because its not your average tutu clearly.

SO I went and bought them Zara brogues. I had to, because they were grey with floral details, like they were sprinkled on top. It was perfect.

Pretty NO? I just GRABBED it as soon as i saw it. Literally.

OHH. Miu Miu influence all over. NOTED. There was this top that had a tiny cat print on it, and instead of the sharp drop collar, it had a peter pan collar. The sleeves could have been more structured, or they could have done better with no sleeves at all.

Bumped into lovestruckcow at the store. Know what, I had a gut feeling I would see you that day. No shit :P

Sorry I was so nervous and petrified, but it was lovely to see you again!

And so today I ventured out.. shopping for the first time since going home for my holidays.
It was more of a window shopping, eating out affair rather than ending up with goodies as most people would like to put it. So no showsey pictures or my usual mini photo shoot with weird backgrounds that are forever changing. But I did find something to lust after. If this lusty feeling alluding to a shoe lasts then I might just run back to the store and get it. It has to last because if it doesn't then, you end up being a hoarder. I have no intention of hoarding... well, not anymore. Took a quick shot of what I wore. See the grey and navy person that I am? Heh.

Geeeee... Notice how I am such a regular on the blogosphere lately?
Amateur blogger doing my bit. Sleep deprived at the moment.. almost 3 in the AM and staring at this screen in my state is nausea inducing but I do not want to end up with a draft. Getting straight to the point.

Took these shots today. Been wanting to do this post as long as I can remember.

NO its not a skirt, more like a wrap-around. Where I come from, we wear this. Tribal? Errrmm yeah. It can be a bit tricky when you put it on because one has to make sure you level the hem lines after each wrap around the waist. Traditional staple garment called 'puan' which is all hand woven BTW with intricate detailed designs and patterns. Colour makes for huge play including the traditional designs that has been acquired over the years hence giving it an identity that has become a part of this sleepy little town's heritage. Will definitely do more variations on this as well as more info on the apparel.

Hello. That was lame. Truth is I do get.. As I've said it many times over, I am your average awkward midget/girl and YES I get self-conscious, face conscious?.. exposed and all that when I'm doing this blogging thing. Hence I don't do faces all that much, more so because well, this blog has no intention of getting too subjective about oneself ..they're all mug shots anyway. So we try and do the not-aware-of-the-camera pose, which is rather hilarious actually because I try to look nonchalant or detached which requires a lot of effort. AND NO I am NOT your average social butterfly/prattler. Yes I had to make that point. Shy blogger? Yes. Point given. Moving on.

This was fun layering for me. Grey pieces on top of grey pieces. That is why separates are fun and functional. Assembling and dissembling is an activity I take too much pleasure in, so much so that it leads to a mountain of clothes on the floor after the frenzied activity is over. A common case, yes. I say frenzy because this usually happens when this head of mine is befuddled with inspiration.

Peach socks bought in again. Will probbly do variations of this over and over. And there is an excess of bows here. On the shoes and the head which I noticed later on. Just focus on the layers yeah? There's really no point giving info on where the clothes are from. All thrifted. These repetitive, monotonous visuals seem to be my default camera pose so kindly bear with them.

Stumbled on these. Look at how funny and intelligent they are. Illustrated by Alex Noriega who is " an illustrator from Barcelona that likes to draw things with small faces. " I like small things too, especially things that are small and cute. Cartoony and a bit wacky.

The last two are so FUNNY. My tummy did a serious jiggle. The bunny and the little people make me go all weee and squirmy. Pat em' on the back and take them to bed, huddle them all close to me and maybe make faces at them while I'm reading my book or listening to Camera Obscura. Funny yet intelligent and endearing because you go OH! Okay. A little introspection here and there..errmm.. And you go.. OH again.
